Fishing Derby

June 4, 2016

The day was a success and the weather cooperated with only a few clouds in the sky.  There were plenty of food tents and attractions for kids.  There were also some stunts performed on the Detroit River.  The OPP and the Ministry of Fisheries assisted.  We even had a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer helping the kids.

Music Express performed under a tent, and there was a magic show on the main stage.  The fish were biting, which made for plenty of smiles and excitement.  The biggest fish weighed in at 1.7 lbs and was caught by Joey Klingbile. The runner up was Robert Hickey, landing one at 1.5 lbs.

Professional Fisherman Italo Labignan, along with his crew, were on hand to film the Fishing Derby for a segment on the show Canadian Sportfishing.  A special thanks to Pat Pagano and all the volunteers and sponsors who helped make the event a success.
